Co-organised by the VETNET members Bill Esmond and Johannes Schmees, University of Derby, we announce the Asian-Anglo Lecture Series – between Vocational and Higher Education. It will discuss the relationship between different sectors in education. Across the world, educational pathways are evolving—creating new opportunities but also new tensions. Institutions that sit between vocational and higher education promise greater access and economic mobility, yet they also face resource constraints and complex structural challenges. How do these ‘hybrid’ institutions shape students’ futures? Does permeability between vocational and higher education make learning more accessible or simply reinforce divisions? These issues will be explored from a comparative perspective, encompassing both English-speaking and Asian countries.
